Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi – The Annual Coventry Procession in honour of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the City Centre, beginning at St Osburg’s Church hall at 3pm. This is for the whole Catholic community of Coventry. All welcome.
Today, we welcome back to the 11am Mass, the First Holy Communion candidates for this year. There is a special invitation for these children to be part of the afternoon procession in the city centre, dressed in their First Holy Communion attire.
 
Catholic Today -The new edition of the Diocesan Newspaper is out today. Priced 50p. Features Lourdes, and our football team!

RCIA (Journey in Faith) – In preparation for the implementation of the new translation of the Missal, our Thursday evening sessions now turn their attention to the celebration of Mass, and getting ready for change. 7.45pm, MRR. All welcome this week.
New Translation of the Mass – www.liturgyoffice.org.uk gives a comparison between what you say now and what you will say, from this September. On Thursday evenings, the RCIA sessions will be given over to a presentation of the new Mass: looking at the texts, saying them together, and preparing for the changes that are going to be asked of us as parish communities, from September.
 
Ordination to the Priesthood of Craig Szmidt – This Saturday (2nd July) at 12 noon, in Wolstanton, North Staffordshire. All parishioners are invited to share in the joy of this day, but you must sign up immediately. Transport (for those who sign up) will leave here at 9.45am on Saturday. It should get us there in good time, but you can never be too early, to get a good seat! After the event, the coach will leave Wolstanton at 4pm for the return journey, which will give people a chance to stay for refreshments. It might be worth bringing something by way of a snack to eat between our morning departure and whatever food might be offered.
 
St Thomas More School Summer Ball – Saturday 16th July at the Chesford Grange Hotel in Leamington.  Our Special guest will be TV and Radio Presenter Gabby Logan (former pupil of St Thomas More School) and her husband, former Scotland International Rugby player, Kenny Logan. The A-listers will provide live music from the 60s through to the present day. There will be a silence auction, Games, and a Magician. All parishioners are invited to consider coming along, getting together with friends, and enjoying a special evening. Further details, including ticket price, are on posters at the church doors today.
 
Collection of Food & Personal Hygiene Items for Refugees – Tinned and long-life food items, or hygiene products. Also required if possible are: tea bags, jars of coffee, bags of sugar, and breakfast cereals. Please bring them to the box provided under the statue of St Thomas More, all the year round. Thank you for your response so far. Any amount you give is much appreciated.
 
Parish Shop – now stocking a range of books by Pope Benedict XVI, pictures and prayer cards marking the occasion of the Beatification of Pope John Paul II, and greeting cards for every occasion, and there is a simple and helpful booklet (priced £1-95) on the coming changes to the Missal and Sunday Mass. How are you preparing for this change?
 
Parish Fete – Sunday 10th July (12 noon to 4pm). There has been a huge ‘push’ from school parents to take a full and active part in the fete this year. Now parishioners are asked to do your bit: please sell raffle tickets, bring prizes and donations, especially bottles of wine for the bottle stall, good quality soft toys (that you would like to win), and most of all, come along on the day.
The setting up sessions for the fete will be on Saturday 9th at 4pm, and then on Sunday 10th at 7.30am.
Please note that this year’s fete will follow the 11am Mass which will be the Thanksgiving Mass for the School Year.

Corpus Christi Parish – Our partner parish has a new parish priest: Fr David Gnosill. We pray for him in his new apostolate.

Lourdes Pilgrimage 2012 – Following the many blessings of this year’s Lourdes pilgrimage, the dates for next year’s pilgrimage are: 2nd – 8th June 2012. It might be more manageable to pay in instalments. For more details: Andy & Alison on 76 441436.
 
Coventry Philharmonic Concert - Haydn: "Nelson Mass" and "Te Deum".  Handel: "Messiah" part 2. At the Methodist Central Hall at 7:30pm this Saturday, 2 July. National Grandparents Pilgrimage to Walsingham – celebrating Ss Joachim and Anne, Grandparents of Jesus: Saturday 23rd July.
